Peer-review Process Policy

BELGI: Journal of Islamic Business and Decision Sciences applies a double-anonymous peer review process to evaluate the quality, originality, methodological rigor, and scholarly contribution of submitted manuscripts. In this process, authors and reviewers do not know each other's identities during peer review. Authors are responsible for submitting anonymized manuscripts, while the editorial team takes reasonable steps to protect the identities of both parties.

Initial Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal's aims and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, originality, and basic scholarly quality. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements may be rejected at this stage without external peer review.

External Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise. Reviewers are selected based on their qualifications and ability to provide an impartial assessment. The editorial team seeks to avoid conflicts of interest when selecting reviewers.

Reviewers assess manuscripts based on originality, methodological rigor, the quality of analysis and interpretation, clarity of presentation, relevance to the journal's scope, and contribution to Islamic business and decision sciences. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, evidence-based, and timely feedback.

Confidentiality and Reviewer Responsibilities

Manuscripts submitted for review and all related communications must be treated as confidential. Reviewers must not disclose, distribute, or use unpublished material for personal or professional advantage. They must not share manuscripts with unauthorized individuals or use external tools that could compromise manuscript confidentiality.

Reviewers must disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest to the editor and decline the invitation if they cannot provide an impartial assessment. They should also inform the editor if they lack the expertise required to evaluate the manuscript or cannot complete the review within the agreed timeframe.

Editorial Decisions

The editor responsible for the manuscript makes the final decision to accept, request revision, or reject a submission, taking into account the reviewers' reports and the journal's editorial standards. Reviewers provide recommendations but do not make the final publication decision. The editor may seek additional review when necessary, including when reviewers' recommendations differ substantially.

Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewers' comments. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers or evaluated by the editor, depending on the nature of the revisions and the editorial assessment.

BELGI: Journal of Islamic Business and Decision Sciences aims to conduct editorial screening and peer review in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining the quality and integrity of the evaluation process. The duration of the review process may vary depending on reviewer availability, the complexity of the manuscript, revision requirements, and editorial assessment. The editorial team will inform authors of significant delays when appropriate.

Ethical Standards and Transparency

BELGI expects editors and reviewers to uphold confidentiality, impartiality, academic integrity, and professional conduct throughout the review process. Concerns about reviewer conduct, conflicts of interest, or the integrity of the review process should be reported to the editorial team for appropriate assessment.
