Author Guidelines

BELGI: Journal of Islamic Business and Decision Sciences welcomes original, high-quality manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of decision science within the context of Islamic business, particularly in the food and service industries. The journal prioritizes field research, both quantitative and qualitative, while also considering conceptual and theoretical studies that provide significant scholarly contributions.

To ensure adherence to our formatting standards, authors must download and use the official BELGI Journal Manuscript Template. Minor revisions to the template will take effect beginning with Volume 2, Issue 1 (2027), to strengthen alignment with Indonesian national and international academic publishing standards.

General Formatting Requirements

• File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
• Maximum File Size: 2 MB (Authors are advised to compress files if necessary)
• Font: 12-point Times New Roman
• Text Formatting: Single-spaced, fully justified (including references)
• Page Layout: 1-inch margins on all sides, A4 paper size (20.99 cm × 29.7 cm).
• Length: Maximum of 25 pages, inclusive of title, abstract, keywords, main text, references, tables, figures, and footnotes. All content must be properly formatted.
• Language: Manuscripts must be submitted in English US.
• Figures and Tables: Must be embedded within the text at the appropriate locations, not grouped at the end of the document.
• Citations: Authors must use Mendeley or a compatible reference management tool to format citations and references.

Article Structure

Manuscripts must adhere to the following required structure and formatting guidelines to ensure academic rigor and consistency:

1. Title Page
   • Full title of the article
   • Author(s)’ full name(s), academic title(s), institutional affiliation(s), country(es), and email address(es)
   • Indicate the corresponding author with an asterisk (*) if applicable
2. Abstract
   • A concise and factual summary of the research, limited to 150-250 words.
   • Include the study’s purpose, methodology, key findings, originality/value, research limitations/implications and practical implications
   • Do not include citations, figures, or tables in the abstract.
   • Provide up to 7 keywords that best represent the main themes of the study, separated by commas.
3. Introduction
   • Provide background context and rationale for the study,  state of the art (recent relevant studies), and clear identification of the research gap.
   • Clearly state the research problem, research questions or hypotheses (if applicable).
   • Outline the study’s novelty and its contribution to academic and/or practical knowledge.
   • Conclude with a brief overview of the article structure
4. Research Methodology
   • Present a clear and detailed description of the research design (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods)
   • Specify data collection procedures, sampling techniques, instruments used, and ethical considerations
   • Describe data analysis methods with sufficient detail to allow replication
   • Justify methodological choices in relation to the research objectives
5. Results
   • Present findings in a logical and organized manner.
   • Use tables and figures to support key findings, ensuring they are clearly labeled and referenced in the text.
   • Avoid interpreting results in this section; focus on objective reporting of data.
6. Discussion
   
   • Interpret results in relation to the research questions, hypotheses, and existing literature.
   • Compare findings with prior studies to highlight similarities, differences, and theoretical implications.
   • Discuss the practical implications of the findings for industry, policy, or society.
7. Conclusions and Future Research
   
   • Summarize key findings and explicitly answer the research objectives.
   • Highlight the study’s primary contributions and limitations.
   • Provide specific, well-justified recommendations for future research..
8.  Declarations
   • Acknowledgments: Recognize individuals or institutions that supported the research but do not qualify for authorship.
   • Author Contributions: Specify each author's contribution using CRediT roles (e.g., Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing – Original Draft).
   • Funding Statement: Disclose all financial support received, including grant numbers. If no funding was received, state this explicitly.
   • Conflict of Interest: Disclose any financial, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the research. If none, state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."
   • Ethical Approval / Informed Consent: For research involving human participants, identify the approving ethics committee and approval number. State whether informed consent was obtained.
   • Data Availability Statement: Briefly summarize the data used. If data cannot be shared, explain why.
   • AI Usage Statement: Disclose the use of any generative AI tools in accordance with the journal’s AI Policy (see below).
9. References
   • All references must follow APA 7th edition citation style precisely.
   • Minimum Requirement: Each article must cite at least 40 references.
   • Source Quality: More than 80% of references must be primary sources (journal articles, conference proceedings, dissertations).
   • Recency: More than 80% of references must have been published within the last 5 years.
     Ensure consistency: Every in-text citation must appear in the reference list, and vice versa.

Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

In accordance with national scientific publication standards and COPE guidelines, BELGI Journal enforces a strict AI policy:

• No AI Authorship: AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
• Mandatory Disclosure: Authors must disclose any use of AI for language editing, translation, or formatting in the AI Usage Statement. Specify the tool name, version, and purpose.
• Author Responsibility: Authors retain full responsibility for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of the manuscript. AI must not be used to generate core scientific content or replace human scholarly judgment.
• Confidentiality: Uploading unpublished manuscript data to public AI platforms is strictly prohibited.

Additional Requirements:

• Maintain consistency in terminology throughout the manuscript
• Write in formal, scientific US English, ensuring correct grammar, syntax, and academic tone
• Avoid colloquial language, contractions, and ambiguous expressions
• Use precise and objective language appropriate for scholarly communication

Submission Preparation Checklist

Authors are required to confirm compliance with the following items prior to submission. Failure to meet these requirements may result in the manuscript being returned.

• The manuscript reports original research that has not been previously published in any peer-reviewed journal, including in another language.
• The manuscript is not under consideration for publication by any other journal or publisher.
• The manuscript adheres to the formatting guidelines specified in the Author Guidelines of  BELGI: Journal of Islamic Business and Decision Sciences.
• The manuscript contains no instances of plagiarism, data falsification, or fabrication.
• The submission file is in .doc or .docx format, with a file size not exceeding 2 MB.
• The main manuscript is anonymized (i.e., free of author-identifying information) for blind peer review.
• The title page (containing author names, affiliations, and contact details) is provided as a separate document or clearly separated within the submission.

BELGI Journal does not charge for Article Processing Charges (APCs) or submission charges.
