Author Guidelines
BELGI: Journal of Islamic Business and Decision Sciences welcomes original, high-quality manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of decision science within the context of Islamic business, particularly in the food and service industries. The journal prioritizes field research, both quantitative and qualitative, while also considering conceptual and theoretical studies that provide significant scholarly contributions.
General Formatting Requirements
- File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
- Maximum File Size: 2 MB (Authors are advised to compress files if necessary)
- Font: 12-point Times New Roman
- Text Formatting: Single-spaced, fully justified (including references)
- Page Layout: 1-inch margins on all sides, A4 paper size (20.99 cm × 29.7 cm).
- Length: Maximum of 25 pages, inclusive of title, abstract, keywords, main text, references, tables, figures, and footnotes. All content must be properly formatted.
- Language: Manuscripts must be submitted in English US.
- Figures and Tables: Must be embedded within the text at the appropriate locations, not grouped at the end of the document.
- Citations: Authors must use Mendeley or a compatible reference management tool to format citations and references.
Article Structure
Manuscripts must adhere to the following required structure and formatting guidelines to ensure academic rigor and consistency:
- Title Page
- Full title of the article
- Author(s)’ full name(s), academic title(s), institutional affiliation(s), country(es), and email address(es)
- Indicate the corresponding author with an asterisk (*) if applicable
- Abstract
- A concise and factual summary of the research, limited to 150-250 words.
- Include the study’s purpose, methodology, key findings, originality/value, research limitations/implications and practical implications
- Provide up to 7 keywords that best represent the main themes of the study, separated by commas.
- Introduction
- Provide background context and rationale for the study
- Clearly state the research problem, research questions or hypotheses
- Outline the objectives and significance of the study
- Conclude with a brief overview of the article structure
- Research Methodology
- Present a clear and detailed description of the research design (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods)
- Specify data collection procedures, sampling techniques, instruments used, and ethical considerations
- Describe data analysis methods with sufficient detail to allow replication
- Justify methodological choices in relation to the research objectives
- Results and Discussion
- Present findings in a logical and organized manner, using tables, figures, or charts where appropriate
- Interpret results in relation to the research questions and existing literature
- Discuss theoretical and practical implications
- Address any unexpected findings and limitations of the study
- Conclusion and Recommendations
- Summarize key findings and their contributions to the field
- Highlight theoretical and practical implications
- Provide well-justified recommendations for policy, practice, or future research
- Suggest directions for further inquiry based on study limitations
- Acknowledgments (if applicable)
- Recognize individuals, institutions, or funding agencies that supported the research
- Disclose any conflicts of interest
- References
- All references must follow APA 7th edition citation style precisely
- Include only sources cited in the text; every in-text citation must appear in the reference list, and vice versa
- Prioritize reputable international journal articles from publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, Emerald Publishing, and Sage Publications, as well as recent, relevant research (preferably published within the last 5 years).
- Ensure references are authoritative, peer-reviewed, and academically credible
Additional Requirements:
- Maintain consistency in terminology throughout the manuscript
- Write in formal, scientific US English, ensuring correct grammar, syntax, and academic tone
- Avoid colloquial language, contractions, and ambiguous expressions
- Use precise and objective language appropriate for scholarly communication
Submission Preparation Checklist
Authors are required to confirm compliance with the following items prior to submission. Failure to meet these requirements may result in the manuscript being returned.
- The manuscript reports original research that has not been previously published in any peer-reviewed journal, including in another language.
- The manuscript is not under consideration for publication by any other journal or publisher.
- The manuscript adheres to the formatting guidelines specified in the Author Guidelines of BELGI: Journal of Islamic Business and Decision Sciences.
- The manuscript contains no instances of plagiarism, data falsification, or fabrication.
- The submission file is in .doc or .docx format, with a file size not exceeding 2 MB.
- The main manuscript is anonymized (i.e., free of author-identifying information) for blind peer review.
- The title page (containing author names, affiliations, and contact details) is provided as a separate document or clearly separated within the submission.
BELGI welcomes field-based research, either quantitative or qualitative, that employs a robust and sufficiently complex research framework, offering novel and meaningful contributions to the existing body of knowledge. In addition, the journal also considers high-quality scholarly works in the form of systematic literature reviews (SLR), meta-analyses, and bibliometric studies, provided they are theoretically grounded, methodologically sound, and offer significant insights for advancing academic discourse.
